Benefits of Banana

Mrs. Rani Ratnem - Treasurer of NACSCOM

My relationship with other races is excellent! The reason being, I have learnt to give and take. We must always share our knowledge with others. In our life, it is inevitable that we have ups and downs, but we must always have the patience to tolerate the ways of others. When we give due respect to others, we are inevitably respected!

Racial harmony is all about relationship. Tolerance and understanding are two pillars of harmony. Malaysians born in this soil, already possess these two traits in their blood. I have friends who are Chinese, Indians, Malays, Kadazans, Ibans, Portugese, Thais, Nepalese, Arabs, British, Americans and Australians. Malaysia’s multi ethnicity background is so colourful, it gives us the feeling of one family, one nation and one world. Love finds no barriers for peacefulness.

My close friend is an Indian woman. We go a long way together. She has always been there for me in times of thick and thin. Our friendship began about 15 years ago. Right now we’re bound by distance, hence we don’t get to see each other often, like we used to. My doctors are also very kind. I like to consult with my Indian doctors, they’re not proud, they’re very helpful.

Ageing Gracefully

The Malaysian Future

Finally a magazine for senior citizens has come to the newsstand for the public to read. There are many reading materials published for children, teenagers, men and women and now, it is time to publish one for our golden people.Although this magazine is meant for the senior citizens, the articles published are for the benefit of all. All are welcomed to associate, contribute, participate and comment. The magazine is packed with a lot of information on biographies of personalities, health, travel, technology, finance & law, lifestyle and aging forums & events.

Wisdom comes with age, likewise, senior citizens’ expertise, knowledge and advice are valuable assets to the younger generation. Aging is not only a seniority of calendar years but also an accumulation of wisdom. As we advance technologically, the humanitarian aspect of helping people should not be forgotten. Progression of arts and science is the acquisition and execution of knowledge and progression of age is the combination of forbearance, righteousness and sense control which produces wisdom. Age is not confined to numbers; aging is a biological process not a psychological one.

As James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States said, “If wrinkles must be written upon our brows, let them not be written upon the heart. The spirit should never grow old.” So long as your psyche is strong, you do not age.
